Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead AV Installation Technician to oversee and execute commercial audio-visual installations. This role is responsible for leading field teams, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver successful projects.
The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, takes ownership of job sites, and can lead a team while keeping projects on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AV installation projects from start to finish
- Supervise and support installation technicians on job sites
- Interpret system drawings, schematics, and scope of work
- Install, configure, and commission AV systems including audio, video, control, and networking components
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve system issues
- Ensure installations meet company standards, safety requirements, and project timelines
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades
- Maintain accurate documentation including as-builts and field reports
- Provide client-facing support, system walkthroughs, and basic training
Technical Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of AV systems, including:
- Audio systems (DSP configuration, gain structure, speaker wiring)
- Video systems (switchers, matrix routing, EDID, HDCP)
- Control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX)
- Structured cabling (CAT6, fiber, coax)
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across audio, video, control, and network systems
- Experience with AV-over-IP systems and basic network configuration (VLANs, multicast, QoS)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and signal flow diagrams
- Experience with rack building, system commissioning, and testing

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented AV Installation Technician to install and support commercial audio-visual systems. This role works closely with lead technicians and project teams to ensure systems are installed correctly, function reliably, and meet client expectations.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with tools and cabling, a solid understanding of AV fundamentals, and a strong willingness to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Install AV equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and racks
- Run, terminate, and label cabling (CAT6, HDMI, speaker wire, etc.)
- Assist with mounting displays, projectors, and AV hardware
- Follow system drawings, schematics, and installation instructions
- Support system configuration, testing, and commissioning
- Troubleshoot basic AV system issues
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Adhere to company standards, safety practices, and project timelines
- Provide basic client interaction and support as needed
Technical Qualifications
- Basic understanding of audio, video, and control systems
- Experience with structured cabling and termination (CAT5e/CAT6 preferred)
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Basic troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of signal flow is a plus

Job Summary
The AV Field Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising field installation teams while managing installation schedules, prefabrication, warehouse coordination, and ensuring all AV projects are executed safely, in compliance with OSHA standards, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality industry standards.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and hands-on expertise in commercial AV systems. The AV Field Supervisor will also bring business sense and practical problem-solving abilities to balance project demands with client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise AV installation teams on job sites, ensuring all work meets design specifications, quality standards, timelines, and budget requirements
- Coordinate prefabrication of AV systems and manage staging of materials
- Partner with the warehouse team to oversee inventory, deliveries, and equipment readiness
- Maintain job site safety in compliance with OSHA standards
- Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of AV field team members
- Assist in system testing, troubleshooting, and customer handoffs to ensure successful project completion
- Collaborate closely with project managers to align field operations with overall project schedules and deliverables
- Review and interpret AV system drawings, scope of work documents, and installation plans to guide field teams effectively
Qualifications
Required:
- 5-10 years of experience in commercial AV installation or field supervision
- Strong technical knowledge of AV systems, cabling, mounting, and rack builds
- Proven experience managing field teams (2 to 10 people) and coordinating multiple job sites
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and safe job site practices
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Preferred:
- CTS Certification (Certified Technology Specialist)
- Experience with Crestron systems and control devices
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms
- Familiarity with project management tools such as FieldWire and Microsoft Teams
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
Working Conditions
- Full-time position with fieldwork at active job sites and warehouse locations
- Physical activity required, including lifting (two-person lift up to 75 pounds), ladder work, and equipment handling
- Occasional evening or weekend work based on project needs
- Travel to various client locations required within 100-mile radius
- Able to drive box truck and pass DOT physical
- This position is 100% on-site (office or job sites); remote work is not available
